The biggest shock entering the industry was communication. College teaches you to code solo or in small, pristine groups. It doesn't teach you how to negotiate tech debt with a non-technical Product Manager.
This is pure gold. Explaining to a PM why a feature will take two weeks because the underlying technical debt is a mess requires massive empathy and communication skills—things a C++ compiler will never teach you!
