From what you are getting (news, dev talks, etc.), where do you think the future of MEAN stack lay and why do you think so?
Dead.
Plenty of people will stay on MEAN, if they've already shipped a solution that works and have the staff to maintain it there's no urgent need to switch.
From what I'm seeing around meetups though, React has definitely got a lot of momentum for new projects and rewrites. Will it last any longer than Angular? Hard to say. I think React has become popular just as people have got some deep framework fatigue, much like jQuery did back in the day. So React might enjoy a longer period of popularity.
Also suspect graph databases will be getting an uptick of popularity.
Well, I think the next step for the MEAN stack it's moving to angular 2, or make a MEAN 2.0 with Angular 2. But sincerely, with the MERN stack around it i think more developers are moving to this last :)

Well, I Personally Believe MERN Stack is a Lot Better than the MEAN Stack; React is being Popular Lately, Because of It's Virtual DOM and Many Other Features :)
