At this point I'm pretty convinced I may as well just look for a recruiter job then a programming job. I could probably fill a job much quicker then most of these people that contact me.
- Recruiters that look at my LinkedIn profile but then ask me if I'm interested in a job for a language no where mentioned on my profile. But then aren't willing for me to learn it on site or on my own time. I'm a programmer. I really don't care what language you want me to write in and in fact, I'm pretty sick of writing in PHP. Something new and fresh would be AWWEESOME! Give me a chance; I can learn, quickly.
- Asking me if I'm interested in a job on the west coast (I'm on the east coast) but don't say right off the bat if I need to be on site or if remote is ok (happened last week). I own a house; I have a wife; 2 cars and lots of things. I can't just pick up and move 3000 miles away :(
- Recruiters that are late for calls at a specific time (also happened last week) and then reschedule 10 minutes after the scheduled time. I'm unemployed and looking. Do I have anything specific going on? No, not really - but I am working on stuff - my startup, learning new languages, etc... I am "busy". My time is just as important as yours.
- I haven't had a hard time asking for the $$$$$ I want but sometimes I get the feeling (I know they do) recruiters just want to fill a spot. Why don't you want this job for $40k less then what you were making?!?! You need a job don't you? I do, but not for that little.
- Recruiters that don't answer your application. Looking at you Cyber Coders. I've applied to 4 or 5 jobs on Cyber Coders that I'm more then qualified for but got 0 response. Maybe I want a simpler job; maybe I want to take it easy for a bit.
- I'm sure there will be more as I continue to casually look for a job, haha.
