Without knowing your interests, it's a bit hard to recommend something personalized to you, however, here are a couple projects that I think are universally interesting since they are built by you, for you:

• Portfolio website: Put your resume, some of your interests, current/past projects you might be working on and if you're looking for work. Don't expect anyone to "discover" it and offer you a job, but, as you take on more projects in the future, add them to your portfolio website with descriptions of what you did and learned. When you do apply for a job in the future, mention your site in your cover letter/resume.
• Photo blog: Facebook need not be the only place you share pictures. You can try manually positioning them, learning about carousels and slideshows or you can start to learn things like Wordpress which will do the work for you, but is a skill all in its own.
• To Do List App: The universal "beginners" app if you feel like learning a bit of logic based programming in addition to your HTML/CSS stuff. Great for grocery & shopping lists too. There are million ways to make one of these so you're a couple Google Searches away from step-by-step instructions with your programming language of choice.
• Fan site: Chances are you're a fan of something. Poker/Football/Game of Thrones, whatever. If there is a small enough niche for your fandom and you provide good content, you might even get some regular visitors.
• Fake product sites: Sometimes the best motivation is just having a laugh. Create "pretend" marketing sites for funny ideas, like a "Getaways for Vegan Hunters" and include photos of people posing over "dead" turnips or shooting deer with paintball guns or something. This will also help you dissect how real products are advertised and marketed, which in turn builds your skillet into marketing strategy as well.

Besides a portfolio site, which I think is a great place to hone your skills and get something of value from it afterwards, I would find something you're really passionate about. Even if it's been done countless times before, if you're passionate about what you're working on, it won't seem like "work" for you, and you'll enjoy it that much more. I've been involved in the bartering community for the past few years, and because of that, my latest and greatest project has been a customized community based barter and exchange web site, and it has been a blast to make!

There are also plenty of clone apps tutorials you can find online. Here is a very thorough tutorial for building an Etsy clone with AngularJS and other stuff. Might be a bit too much if you are just starting out though. I think there was a WhatsApp clone tutorial out there too built with Meteor.
