as Todd said it's busy.
I gave a lot of talks and found jobs because of that. And after that you actually find a lot of opportunities at meetups (meetup.com)
One thing you have to decide is if you want to be a freelancer or you want to be an agency. The agency actually takes care of the customers which is a lot of extra workload. that I personally don't like at all the more people need you the slower you can move forward.
I have 2-3 customers who actually don't have another developer so if I go they collapse and that's a lot of extra pressure if you want to have integrity.
So be aware and say no to projects which don't have a definite end if you don't want to be an agency.
The rest comes natural I actually give discounts and work extra hours for clean code so I don't have stupid discussions about "do we need to have tests" .... I still have them but at least I can keep a quality minimum .... this is up to you in the end.
For me the next years define where I wanna go, I work with different languages and different companies and maybe I wanna become lazy again reduce my 200h+ week to a 120 hour week and get employed or something.
Or I will finally quit and become a gardener or yoga instructor ;D .....
