I must say " Your question which editor to use is a bit of a surprise !" , I mean don't you already use an editor . Considering you are building a 'fairly complex node app' this wouldn't be your first time encountering an editor. However, I suggest Sublime Text. Bracket can get laggy and uses more CPU power. So, for a smooth experience I would suggest Sublime or Atom > :)
