I use nano a lot. I have fun bash scripting. lol Notepad++ is wonderful and loads faster than a fart. However, I've really come to love the extras that are available for Atom, and the ability to sync all the packages between OSes and devices. I keep tons of notes with Notepad++ though, and appreciate the hundreds of tabs being there to remind me of things when the program launches.
Yeah btw Ive pushed notepad++ to its limits and the 64 version is def better for "extreme text editing" than the 32 bit :D
If you really need to get extreme, 010 editor takes the cake. It can open like 6GB size text files and run regex over them lol. I know you're probably wondering what on earth I'm doing.
thinks "Ah... the days of hex editing software to suit my needs."
@hypergeek haha remember Gameshark too? 010 would have been nice to parse out all of the game data.
My first system was the Odyssey II, followed by the Atari 2600. Gameshark was state-of-the-art when it came out. Now, current video games are like comparing cloud logistics to the components of a Speak n Spell.
Nice! Yeah luckily they didn't have ASLR back then which was pretty epic.
