For me, Materialize has worked out really well! But if it's an Angular app, then Angular Material should be preferred, IMO.
In case you are using Ionic and want to add material design, Ionic Material may be helpful. You might want to check out this post as well.
So far I have used material design while developing only Polymer apps. If your app is Angular, then you should go for Angular Material by all means.
