In a world, where you can hire a software developer so easily, this tends to happen. If you go back in the history, people used to stick to their companies for longer time than we do now. They had special bond and company felt the same. But IT changed it all. People chase money, and in turn, they have to jump companies and so, there we lost the bond! That's when it all started. The only bond we have with our company will be, our salary. And for them, we are nothing but another expense which can be replaced by another slightly-lesser expense!

Developers are not just a resource. In reality, developers are not all equal. The talented ones are rare and really hard to find. But a motivated developer and an appreciated one, will strive to prove it is worth the respect, and will try to bring the best solutions it can bring. And by motivated, I do not mean just by money. Financial aspect important, up to a point, but there will always be a better offer out there. Company culture is a huge asset that can be leveraged to build a strong team. And an average developer in a strong team will become very good. This is how you grow people. You need at least a mentor and a team that cooperates and feels respected. Companies that appreciate this will be more successful in the end. Because if a company that has devs that just work for the cash, will end up with a software that works. For now. Until it does not anymore. And no one can understand what is wrong with it anymore. Good software needs care and passion. And those things are not for sale.

@ovidiubadita We all knew this. Aren't we? But this is about the companies that treat us like OP mentioned. I have worked in a range of organizations, where they treat people equally, and where there is a lot of shit storm politics. I have seen devs who goe out of their way to make something work, even if it's not in their scope! But lets face it, not all organizations care for employees or their products. They simply care for money. In such scenario, we have 2 options. Either quit and join another one, or play their game to milk more money from them without doing a lot of actual work!
