Learning to code is more about your brain than the language you are typing - to learn to code you'll strengthen these abilities:
Those skills have a wide application outside of programming too - you'll probably find yourself being more specific when you speak which cuts down on confusion and people misunderstanding you. You might take a more methodical approach to solving non-code problems, and most important of all - you'll exercise and grow the logical parts of your brain, helping you arrive at conclusions faster no matter what you are thinking about.
The most exciting part (for me anyway) about coding is that if you already know language (literacy) and you already know numbers (numeracy) then learning code is like speaking and thinking in a language where words and math are both native parts of the dialect you are speaking. Being able to code will let you integrate and use natural language and math together, and you can use that to expand your thinking. You'll have a more powerful form of expression you can use!
