Do you use git for wordpress projects?

I feel is non-sense, maybe for your child theme or individual plugin/theme only but anyways I think it brings a lot of issues like, when you update plugins you need to commit those changes then pull/push? What if db changes happened during an update? It would not make sense to simply pull or even update locally and on your various environments.

I find tools like Siteground's staging sites much more useful.

For systems using frameworks like laravel where you have DB migrations it makes sense for me to use git and also use it for deployment.

What's your advise? Am I being lazy here?
