How can I make my Postfix powered email service on Ubuntu stop sending emails into the SPAM folder?

I've successfully configured a mail server with Postfix on Ubuntu, but for many obvious reasons all the emails being sent end up in the SPAM folder. I've done some research on the subject, but got a puzzled by the variety of proposed solutions.
