What is the best path to learn data science, and how to still use javascript? do you think that is possible?

I want to learn data science, there is a new path in codecademy and is easy and interesting, but what do you recommend? i like r but i like python too, and i don't want left javascript developer life, what do you think, what is your experience? is possible be a data science and be a js developer?
