Of course, you can't delegate everything. But when you feel that cup overflowing and that burnout creeping, just delegate!
So crucial. Delegation is important and it shows that you have an awesome team if it works out well. But this kinda implies or requires your team being a good fit overall. Often the bad urge for micro management comes with teams that don't work well together.
E.g. if you told someone that the Guideline states "x over y" and you have to tell it for the fifth time the delegation can be scary.
But that is a different context problem: It's rather part of the hiring mechanisms and the culture that is being lived and spread π
Great piece! Nice to see you here Florida Man Erik Aponte! I hope you'll keep writing more like this!
That is a great piece of advice for anyone starting into the management role :) Thanks, Erik!
Am a year old manager and just completed my first year end assessment of my team I can relate with the advice and points so much. And learnt a lot. Thanks
Great article and congrats on your first post β¨β¨
Well-written article, and congratulations on publishing your first articleπ I could relate to most of them when I was working with budding EMs previously. Cheers

Solid post. Love #8. I'd maybe one more .... Learn to "Manage Up." Besides learning the working styles of your team, understand the working styles of your bosses and their bosses. Graduating into management ... bureaucracy is unavoidable, so better get good at it.
