Hi Lee- Thanks for the AMA! As someone who's interested in pursuing a Developer Advocate role, I'm curious about your experience in developer relations.
What's your favorite thing about working in developer relations?
What are some of the soft skills that would make someone successful as a developer advocate?
What are some of the behind the scene challenges of content creation for educating developers?
My favorite part about DevRel is helping others succeed. I try to create the resources and educational material I wish that I could have used when starting to learn to program. Hearing from folks that they've learned from my content is very fulfilling!
My favorite small but impactful thing, which sounds silly, is to smile and be positive! Positivity is infectious. Education should be fun š
One big challenge for content creation is the amount of work that happens behind the scenes for potentially just a 30 second or 1-minute video. It can sometimes take weeks! The combat this, try and reuse your content across different mediums. Maybe it's a tweet, a blog post, and also a video!
Lee Robinson thanks again for hosting the AMA and answering my questions! I'm glad we're on the same page that education should be FUN šš¾ I'll also keep in mind that tip about reusing content š
Happy Thanksgiving š¦ (if you're in the US) and have a nice day š
