Snapshots rot, but the pack isn't what rots. The repo underneath it moves. The failure that hurts is an agent working confidently from a file that was accurate on Tuesday and is a lie by Thursday. Rebuilding the pack before every run is cheaper than debugging the change it made from a stale map.
