The one-liner that deserves more space here is buried in the cons list: "borrow strategically—fund growth, not just patch holes." That's the whole article in a sentence, and it's worth unpacking, because the two cases behave very differently.

Using a loan to buy a van or a second crew that directly generates new revenue is a fairly clean calculation—you can estimate the added jobs, the added margin, and whether the payment fits inside it. Using a loan to cover a seasonal cash-flow dip is a different animal, because the revenue was already earned or already expected. If the gap is timing, the cheaper fixes are often invoicing discipline, deposits on larger jobs, or a line of credit you draw only when needed, rather than an installment loan you pay on year-round.

A few things I'd want to see added:

Cost, stated plainly. "Interest and fees" is vague. For the fast-funding products this article points toward—merchant cash advances, short-term working capital—the effective cost is frequently expressed as a factor rate, and converting that to an APR often lands well into double or triple digits. A contractor comparing a bank line at 9% against a factor-rate product needs that translation, not just the word "fees."

Repayment structure matters more than the rate for trades. Monthly fixed payments land hardest in the slow season. Products that remit a percentage of daily or weekly card sales flex with volume; fixed ACH debits don't. For a business with pronounced seasonality, that structural difference can matter more than a point of rate.

The testimonial is doing a lot of work. One contractor doubling revenue in a year after a loan is a nice story, but it doesn't isolate the loan as the cause. He also hired, bought a van, and started chasing commercial contracts. Attributing the outcome to the financing makes for a cleaner narrative than the evidence supports.

And the disclosure point: the piece is written as advice but functions as a funnel—"click here to apply" appears before any discussion of cost, and the recommendation lands before the reader has any basis to evaluate it. That's worth naming, not because the product is necessarily bad, but because readers should know what they're reading.
