This is one of the things I'm most excited for in Java. Project Loom is the code name for this work. You can download early access builds and try them.
Some thread heavy workloads showed even 4x speed increase. Obviously, real world scenarios would be different but I'm betting this will leapfrog Java into the server throughput lead.
