I wish you made jotting ideas on the primary list. In my opinion, it is the best way to build a curated list of ideas.
It's not always that you will come up with the brightest ideas, jotting them down allows you to keep the initial thought and build on it.
This may not sound coherent, but as you know you have it in your backlog, you can allow yourself to think of other things.
One other thing that I found that works for me are keeping oneself healthy, both mentally and physically by exercising is the key.
