Thank you for this sincere POV. I think there's a small typo. "Choices were mad in terms of hardware components before my tenure even started." Didn't you mean "choices were made"?
I agree with this! I've been working in startups but the most important is that they make you feel part of the company. Usually, they reduce the compensation and give you other perks like stocks.

I have worked at a bunch of startups and recently went back to enterprise at GitHub. My best tip for working at a startup is you HAVE to be comfortable with chaos.
Also, you HAVE to be cool with doing basically whatever it takes to make the startup successful. I have seen folks really struggle with the idea that "It is not my job". That doesn't fly at a startup.
