I have worked at a bunch of startups and recently went back to enterprise at GitHub. My best tip for working at a startup is you HAVE to be comfortable with chaos.
Also, you HAVE to be cool with doing basically whatever it takes to make the startup successful. I have seen folks really struggle with the idea that "It is not my job". That doesn't fly at a startup.
