I found the 'Build your own X' an interesting site. There was too much to do in one lifetime, but it got me thinking.
I am torn by posts with the top 10 courses, websites, frameworks, etc. I am never sure how much vetting the writers do for the 10 x's they list. I wonder if the person has done any or all or none of the work the sites suggest, haha. The information often does not appear to be curated or authoritative (to me). It is a large list, and lists are not educational by themselves. For example, memorizing the elements does not help you deeply understand chemistry.
One article I read stated that people must be able to surf above the huge amount of info and see patterns in the information age, not get paralyzed by it. Obviously, not all info is good or helpful. I want 30,000 ft, not a list sometimes. Your thoughts? ;)
I am very suspicious of blockchain, bitcoin. I admit that I do not understand ALL the in's and out's, but I have to worry about the electrical consumption that the chains require for one. (Hear me out. ;) I keep coming across articles about how bitcoin has just surpassed the electric consumption of Ireland or some other economy. That worries me. I realize that money does not grow on trees and needs to accumulate and be mined in the real sense, but this does not seem as productive as creating an actual ounce of gold. For example, some people think that America has lost its way because it is not producing the products the world needs. Instead, it is betting, gambling, or shorting the investments to game the market not producing true value. I realize that I am not an expert in this field, but I read about Warren Buffet saying blockchain is a bomb waiting to explode.
I do not mean to knock you but just converse about what we see. We have exchanged good ideas in the past. (Maybe I should have written my own article on the topics, lol). I look forward to your thoughts on all matters.
