Many of my acquaintances don't bother keeping their desks clean (me included), but wouldn't you agree that a clean desk invites more work getting done than a messy one?
My advice is to not to worry about it much, just make sure that you clean up before leaving the desk. This will be beneficial for the next time you resume your work.
