I like the configuration part of the article, some of it I did not know. I also have issues in my company's codebase.

I want to introduce them to TailwindCSS so that we no longer dealt with CSS which gets messier over time.

Do you have any advice on how to go convincing them?

Here's a few things that I'd do:

Take five pages from your current website and note the total size of all the styles. Now, develop those pages using TailwindCSS and measure the difference. There is a very good chance that the total size of all the styles would be much lesser. You might need to configure TailwindCSS to include only the styles that you need.
If you're already using React or any component-based system (library or framework) for your website, you can develop a few components using TailwindCSS. You can measure the amount the duplicate styles that would be removed due to the utility classes that TailwindCSS provides.
Also, if you can measure the time needed to develop a few components, you'd notice that the time necessary to develop components will be much lesser since you don't have to write any custom CSS.
