The candle-boundary point is where I would start a consistency check. Take four completed H1 candles with the same feed, price type and session boundaries, then compare their aggregated OHLC with the provider's completed H4 candle. A missing hour or a daylight-saving boundary should produce an explicit exception rather than a silently different H4 bar. Do you keep those alignment checks separate from the live, incomplete-candle display?
