But some operating systems make it hard or don't bother to get the manufacturers to build for the OS like they're against proprietary software. For example Ubuntu is a big boy, backed by Canonical. That should encourage manufacturers. But no one's making a move about it.

I agree. Drivers need to be updated regularly! That's where open source comes to save the day. But that's not a problem as software developers take care of this. How many softwares do you know don't support Windows XP?

Actually it's okay. Cause it shouldn't be the determinant for security on your web app. I once edited the link of a DM with someone on Twitter through the browser's address bar. I saw the ID of the DM and tried incrementing it, which worked! But I've never heard of Twitter being hacked in any way. Bottom line Data on your service should have permission restrictions based on authenticated users. It's called authorization!

I agree with it being a lot of work! I've just started learning Rust and boy! The idea of values changing variables because another borrows it strikes me since I've always used garbage collected languages. And yeah! Freeing values with GC isn't that bad. It's not even obvious it's there. Ah Ha 😂! Thanks!

I think you're missing the entire point. First, what do you want to build? A web backend that's fast? Productive? Scalable? Or a combination? Secondly, what languages do you know? Which of them do you think can get the job done? Has python ever made you fast in building stuff. Has Javascript made you more productive? Next, get the best framework that gets it done. There are lots of framework out there for a reason. Or write your own, if not. If you like Javascript Nodejs, try NestJS http://nestjs.com
