Also a few unrelated, off-topic, rambling gripes. Hashnode makes it difficult to see the list of all of the episodes (and the loader that seemed like it would let me load them in batches of 5 got stuck on the first load). So I thought I might extract them from the RSS. Then I thought - hey, why not try doing it in Crystal! Then I wondered whether Crystal is compatible with existing Ruby's gems. After googling 'crystal gem compatibility', I am now learning things like "Crystals are full of potent healing energy" and "Citrine is a wonderful crystal for manifesting and bringing forward blessings of abundance. Amethyst has an entire list of healing benefits; some of these include dispelling fear, anxiety, and rage." It also says "Ruby is known to promote love, health, and nurturing energy. " which at least in your case definitely seems to be true. Well, at least it can't be as bad as googling anything to do with Matrix and its client Element.
Thanks for this series, I have enjoyed it. I had some questions regarding your process, but you've basically responded to all of them in this post. I have also enjoyed the acerbic tone of some of the articles. Did it seem over-the-top at times? Who cares! As we say around here - a good hate is never bad. 馃榿 I wondered whether you'd get to .NET or LINQ. Well, maybe in the next one. 馃榿 Also, two interesting esolangs in case you or someone else reading this don't know them are Piet, which is basically a 2D language with pixels, and Rockstar, which makes programs sound like metal songs. Dylan Beattie, the author of Rockstar, has a fun talk where he talks about both here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6avJHaC3C2U . He also talks about other things - it's a really good talk.
I really like the look of this. I've considered using Ruby over a decade ago, but I changed my mind when I saw some of its drawbacks; two of them being a lack of Windows support, and what a pain just installing a Ruby app and running it was, even under linux. Maybe Crystal would be worth checking out. Even though there's still no windows support... edit: Okay, maybe soon? The install page still only lists instructions for WSL, but a github issue from December seems to indicate a Windows build exists already.
