While learning, I noticed that courses and reference documents lack a deeper explanation of the thought process behind a decision for a particular solution. In my opinion it's exactly this part beginners might struggle with the most, or at least I do. The great thing about coding is the endless amount of approaches to solve a problem. On the other hand it's also the most difficult part of coding. The decision making process on which approach is right in a given situation is complicated for a beginner like me. That's why having a detailed explanation of someone else's perspective on how things should be done is more valuable than any course out there. Well, at least for me it is. Btw, I love the idea of a random blog button!

From my own experience with pomodoro, which I used during intense and hardcore studying for exams (didn't study until 2 weeks before... my bad) it gave great results. I have diagnosed ADD, and reading/studying something boring for 1-3h, or even worse when it's long sessions like 12h, is a constant battle with my attention span. Pomodoro helps to set small goals, which makes it a bit easier to get through, rather than one impossibly huge task, which is often how it appears in my monkey brain. I might add that on Win 11 the Clock app has a similar feature to pomodoro. I'm unsure if the Clock app on Win 10 has gotten the same updates though.

In the linked article, they provide statistics for the level of education among senior software engineers in U.S. Only 1% have a high school degree, while the overwhelming part has a bachelor, and some even have higher education. Do you think college is necessary for this position? Might it be just an artificial requirement from the tech companies, or perhaps it's too difficult to gain all the required knowledge by one self? Maybe it's just a correlation between people being unable or unwilling to sacrifice the time, and put in the effort to finish college, likewise pursue such a demanding career?
