I started learning how to code in 1997. I was just getting ready to graduate from high school and didn't really know what I wanted to do with my life. One of my uncles told me to learn how to write code because it was the future. "Don't learn how to use a tool like Dreamweaver, learn how to write the code behind it. It's the future!" Dreamweaver was brand new and everyone was excited about it. I still remember it like it was yesterday. It ended up being great advice! :)

Keyword: recently. Give yourself a little bit of time to get used to your new surroundings from a brain perspective. You're still processing things at a subconscious level, and that takes energy! Setting small goals definitely helps me when I'm adjusting to a new situation or experiencing a little bit of burnout. It helps me feel continually productive. I also do self-checks every few months, and really examine what I've been up to, and whether or not I think I could do more. You got this!

I frequently observe young(er) developers trying to sell me something we tried 20 years ago but abandoned for various reasons (especially in web development). I want to find a good way to encourage experimentation, but at the same time, I feel like the industry is continually trying to reinvent the wheel. How do you deal with hype? Do you recommend software professionals stay out of the hype cycle, or lean into it?
