I started creating web in 1999 with Flash 4. Today I'm using fullstack JavaScript. My work include RE:DOM view library, Liike tweening library, HTML5 Deck of Cards, iDiD digital signage and Skyview panorama system.

I'd say if you need minimap / code folding, you should consider refactoring, splitting your code in to smaller modules and helpers. Here's a nice YouTube video series about refactoring (also about creating Super Mario with JavaScript from scratch π): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g-FpDQ8Eqw8&list=PLS8HfBXv9ZWWe8zXrViYbIM2Hhylx8DZx
I started in 1999 with Flash 4 and have always loved creating interactions, animations, user interfaces and design. Then I got in to programming ActionScript, HTML, CSS, PHP and little bit of JS. When Flash died, I started learning JavaScript, and because I always tailor-made my ActionScript projects, I learned JavaScript throughoutly as well, not just some frameworks. When node.js came out, I was blown away by the possibilities it offers (still am). Now I can do pretty much everything in both front and the backend. As the language have evolved, Iβm more and more convinced about the greatness of JavaScript. Haters gonna hate, I donβt really care, itβs a beautiful and powerful language full stack, if used well. π€
