Even though Symfony is a framework that imposes some kind of basic skeleton, you have the freedom to choose whatever architecture due to the presence of high-quality decoupled components. Laravel steps further in terms of transition to more declarative programming when programmer's freedom is somewhat restricted and we have several templates of applications. So if you ask Taylor whether he regrets bringing Laravel to the table he will answer that Laravel has a great business value simplifying and boosting development process for small and medium-sized businesses. It also comes at a cost that you as a Laravel developer may not be aware of programming language capabilities and many good practices. But a good PHP Developer must write his own PHP framework and lots of bicycles to gain expertise) It's not correct to put the blame on frameworks' creators, especially when you can peek into the source code and learn fundamental concepts as opposed to closed proprietary software products.
