Yes, it can do blog/news. You first define the structure and then they can add / edit content. Depends on the client... I tampered a bit around it and found it relatively easy to navigate.

What do your clients want to do? Do they need landing pages or want to blog more?

They want a landing page with a news section where they can add news as needed. The update will likely be once or twice a week. They also want to have a way to edit the top page text, but they don't need to do that often. (Maybe once every few months for that.)

They are particularly interested in some "email-to-post" feature, though. My clients don't even want to bother with an admin interface in general. They want to be able to write an email on the spot, attach an image or two, and their site to convert the email to a new post automatically. WordPress and some other blog platforms give them this feature, but I'm not sure whether such functionality is available to static generators.

I must admit I've never heard of such a workflow. I hope someone here can help you out with that.

IMO, if that's what they want + don't want to invest $$$, they are stuck with wordpress.
