Every time when posting a link to a Github project somewhere there is the picture of the creator visible. But every bigger open source project has its own image big in the readme. Wouldn't it be great to have the possibility to add an own picture per repository?
What do you think?
Thanks for your follow ups! I wrote Github a mail and got a very fast response. They are happy about the feature requests (I had another one) and the responsible teams will take a look into it. Of course they can't promise anything but that's enough for me :)
As far as I can see, that's already possible. when posting the link, just change the image. There is a little pen-icon when you hover the image.
Benjamin Herzog That would be cool, however, you should ask for that feature on GitHub, if I understand you correctly

Creating Content & Code
This is a common issue I have as well. I normally end up removing the picture from where I am posting because I don't associate the project with a singular person.
The current workaround for this is creating an org for the project. Now the picture of the org shows up instead, which is usually the project's logo. This is also a good way to organize bigger projects and show that there is potentially a team backing the project.
