I'm thinking of developing simple support desk solution for a niche. A bit specific niche which interconnects with another system and makes it sub-optimal to use some of ready made solutions like ZenDesk (even with their API).
However, I don't have much experiance with handling important mail in my apps. I really love AWS and use many services there so my first though obviously is to use SES for that part. But I'd like to hear about alternatives or downsides.

Amazon SES has been by far the most reliable email service I have used. Never faced any issues of delays.
We used Mandrill before that and we occasionally faced issues with deliveries. The only downside I faced initially with AWS was the 10MB attachment limit.
