I don't have a Stackoverflow account, but I do use it heavily like the rest of us when I have to.
If you already have some Stackoverflow points and you think they're good, you can mention them in your resume. If you look at most career pages these days, they definitely ask for your GitHub account and optionally ask to attach your SO profile.
That being said, if you don't have enough points there, don't worry about it. Don't focus on building it, just focus on the other important things you need to do, like building a side-project or open source contributions. They carry more weight in the eyes of an employer.
