Does spending time on Hashnode count? 😀
On a more serious note, for general tech updates I read articles on Medium, check out Reddit, and follow people on Twitter who share interesting articles.
As for books, The Phoenix Project: A Novel about IT, DevOps, and Helping Your Business Win and The DevOps Handbook: How to Create World-Class Agility, Reliability, and Security in Technology Organizations are the 2 of my favorite ones. The latter was truly an eye-opener for me, and helped me better organize my workday. Also, almost anything from the Basecamp team proved to be a great read.
I think that watching people on Youtube and Twich is a good thing to do. For example, a general webdev tech landscape overview is a fun thing to watch.
