I googled this before but I thought I would ask for more of real time update from developers. E.g i'm building with django at the moment i'm sure i've already build abot 50% but within a few days.
So if i was to take on a custom cms for e.g company how long would I need to quote to build a fully functional one? six weeks? 3 Months?
There's also djangocms and others.
But honestly, it depends a lot on what you need and what you start with.
From "something recognizable as a content management system" to "one of the best content management systems" is probably two orders of magnitude at least.
Don't use a checklist of features as estimate too much. Fixing bugs, polishing, deployment, support, etc often take a lot more time than expected.
It depends on the requirements and the necessary features. And very importent: Last 20% needs the same time like the already done 80% ๐

You can build a basic CMS in a few days but to have a decent featured CMS that's tested I'd say you looking at a good 1-2 months at least, depending on the complexity required.
