I started writing DOS batch files in my early 30s, but didn't get seriously started until I went back to school in my mid 30s when I took a module on Pascal programming alongside my English Lit major. After the degree I got in to HTML and Javascript along with e bit of Perl (mid 90s, early web), and now (in my mid 50s) I make my living as a front end developer.
