Ah! It is so nice to find a fellow Pixel Art enthusiast in here! I have always wanted to do Pixel Art, but never really got around to it seriously; got into the comfort zone of being a consumer rather than being a creator!

I have a collection, though, of pixel art learning resources which I had collected, in the hopes of being great at it one day. I am unsure of the location of that collection; but a search has brought up the ones that I was looking forward to perusing.

As @razorbeard has put it, DeviantArt has some of the best resources; here are a couple which come highly recommended to start learning pixel art

• Pixel Art Tutorial Series by vanmall — You can find links to his other tutorial pieces in the description of the image; covering from pixel art basics, to pixelling, household items, faces, etc...
• Pixel Art Tutorial by Gasara: This starts you off with tooling (GIMP, in this case); and then proceeds with the do's and dont's of pixelling.

This tutorial by Derek Yu of Spelunky fame, is highly revered among Pixel Art enthusiasts as a perfect beginning place to get a grip on the basics of all of the techniques involved in making Pixel Art.
