Actually you don't have to impress them .... the market has not enough developers. I get requests all the time from all over the world. The only thing that's matters is "do you fit the profile" ... so use the modern BS
"react, angular2, blablabla" "mysql, mongodb, .... blablabla" no one really cares how good you actually are till you reach the last rounds at the beginning it's basically "oh she/he knows bla it's on the trending list" and if you're humble and just drop the BS-Bingo words it works.
Till you reach the devs and they have to be impressed with actual knowledge and honesty ... the rest is basically BS-Bingo in a rigged environment.
That's at least my experience of the last 10 years, you need to reach the actual developers. So if I were you I would not care about about recruiters I would care for meetups or conferences :) mainly meetups because they are more recurring so you can slowly network :)
