I am a full-stack web developer (JavaScript) with a bunch of other skills. What work/achievements would be impressive for most of recruiters?
Hi Betty, I think this question was posted a year ago, how have you gotten on so far? Ref comment below I kinda agree to a point but if you throw a load of keywords into your CV without thought a Hiring Manager (who knows what they're talking about) will quizz you on random keywords. If you don't know diddly squat about that tech they'll likely bin you off.
There are other things you can put into your CV that will make you stand out. One well-crafted sentence can inject more life, charisma and personality into a CV than a zillion keywords! :-)
I wrote an article on CV writing if you're interested. But the other guy is right, most Recruiters don't know much and are perhaps not worth bothering with, so choose which ones to work with carefully then you avoid all the idiots...
j
stuff ;)
Actually you don't have to impress them .... the market has not enough developers. I get requests all the time from all over the world. The only thing that's matters is "do you fit the profile" ... so use the modern BS
"react, angular2, blablabla" "mysql, mongodb, .... blablabla" no one really cares how good you actually are till you reach the last rounds at the beginning it's basically "oh she/he knows bla it's on the trending list" and if you're humble and just drop the BS-Bingo words it works.
Till you reach the devs and they have to be impressed with actual knowledge and honesty ... the rest is basically BS-Bingo in a rigged environment.
That's at least my experience of the last 10 years, you need to reach the actual developers. So if I were you I would not care about about recruiters I would care for meetups or conferences :) mainly meetups because they are more recurring so you can slowly network :)
