Unfortunately, that is SO now a days (as well as many of their other properties) - their not very receptive to beginner questions.

While HashNode is a new(ish) community, there are many pros here also (me, personally, because I don't like what SO has turned into).

A good question consists of:

Descriptive title
A description that explains what the problem is; What you tried; and where your stuck.
Always try to provide sample code
Tag the question properly.

Every pro will expect you to try something first. We're not here to do your homework; we're not here to build your site for you. But if your legitimately stuck on a problem, we'll be glad to help.

You of course, should be able to browse SO questions and answers logged out - or - just register again with a different email address...

On the other hand a good community (platform) will guide every beginner to state those things and not in doubt about it. GitHub is very good at pointing out what you need to include in an issues at some repos, they don't expect me to do a full study before I post 1 line questions.

If you provide the things you say and did some research (typed the title you were going to use in google search) SO users will be glad to help. 90% of stuff coming in is like this:

My DateTime object has the wrong format pls how do I get yy/mm/dd

Answer: DateTime doesn't have a format (only its string representation does), if you took a look at the docs or googled about DateTime you would have known.

Because of this users on SO don't even answer that anymore, they just close as dupe and downvote. Just wait till HashNode gets thousands of spammy no research questions a day, then you'll talk different.

Search Hashnode
