Main Challenges

• The Notion of a 'Team': When we grow to a responsible position like Lead, Manager etc, we suddenly cross the boundary of an Individual Contributors(ICs). It is important for us to Show & Tell our folks on how to think of us as Team. It is more challenging when we take a brand new team that, we were not part of originally.
• Trust Building: To me it is all about how positively the team is looking up to me for problem(Technical, Non-Technical) solving and vice-versa. This needs lots of hard work and rapport building with individuals and connecting them with others in most seamless fashion.
• Leading from the Front: This is vital because it builds the Trust, Respect and Comfort factor between us as a Lead, Manager etc and the team members.
• How not to do things that others are supposed to do: As the transition from IC to a Lead, Manager role happens, the mind-set takes some extra time to change. This could cause issues as we might be inclined in doing the things that we were doing before and others should do. We need to lean good Delegation Skill.

Lessons Learned

• Not to do Small Talk or Loose Talk: People look up to us in many occasions. We as Leaders, Managers need to have a gauge on what we are talking, committing and exhibiting as Character.
• Delegation: This is an Art which is misunderstood in many ways. Delegation doesn't mean, just forwarding our work to someone and keep tracking. Delegation means, we are still the owner and accountable for the outcome, but a whole or part is being executed by someone who needs to be assisted, coached all the ways to see the success.
• You should be 'Learning': Initial days I stopped asking the question, What am I good at? , What should I learn new?. It is important to continue learning, exploring and keeping ourselves Relevant.
• Human makes Mistakes: This is true, really! Don't be super upset due to a mistake made. Next day will be alright, if not, day after!
