I consider myself to be a full-stack developer because:

I do backend stuff.
I can design for the frontend
Can work with servers be it Linux or Windows.

I believe these are the requirements to be called a full stack developer. The stack doesn't matter IMHO, as long as you can do server stuff, frontend and backend, I believe you qualify as a full-stack developer.

True, but in order to do those things you need to know of those stacks (even if you mix up or use other options).

You don't necessary need to know these stacks to be a full-stack developer is all I'm saying. What if Ruby was your poison for the backend and CanJS for the front-end. At the end of the day, it all comes down to personal preference or work environment preference. These stacks are good to know. Just pick anyone and grow from there.

@kayandrae I agree with you. My point was that whatever you languages/libraries/frameworks you use to develop things as a full-stack developer, you still use a stack even if it's just two components. Even if you use DHTML for FE and PHP&MySQL for BE you're still using a stack. Do you get what I'm saying or/and where I'm trying to go with this thread ?
