Hey Sidhant,
Thanks for the question. We launched DQs to solve two problems:
- DQs help you point your questions to specific people and take their personal opinions on various subjects. You can always ask questions and invite others to participate, but that will corrupt various feeds and doesn't look like a question directed to a specific individual. DQs, on the other hand, don't show up in the feed until they are answered.
- Through DQs you can maintain a personal AMA (alternative to GitHub AMAs) where anyone can ask you anything and have deeper discussions in the form of Q&A. You just need to invite people to visit your profile and ask you questions. Through this process everyone benefits from the knowledge you share. Besides, you keep a log of the questions asked to you and build a knowledge portfolio by answering them.
We have plans to integrate Direct Questions tightly with Hashnode. We are rolling out several interesting updates to DQs in the coming few days. Also, I would like to point out that DQs have the potential to serve as the foundation for future AMAs where anyone can go live and host personal AMAs without our involvement.
We would love to hear your feedback and suggestions. If you think we can make it better in any way, feel free to let me know. Thanks again. :)
