I hosted my first website in Wix in 2008/2009!

I used to create websites in both Wix and WordPress. Needless to say its an easy to create a static website when compared to creating it from scratch. Whenever a client approaches me for a static website (which they needs really fast) I prefer Wix/WordPress.

But I'll never use Wix for my own projects. A good example would be my.im Its built from scratch in ReactJS, not Wix. Why?

You'll never get the flexibility of doing it yourself
Pricing. Creating a website is ReactJS and hosting in Netlify or S3 doesn't cost you anything/negligible $$s. Their pricing is too high
Limited - I found it too difficult to add something to the <head> in Wix. It's their platform!
Optimize for speed - They'll inject script that is not necessary or can be optimized. You don't have control over it.
No dynamic content. What if once I got a requirement to show a leaderboard from a DB? Wix only supports static website

There are many other sites to create a website similar to Wix. Yes, a small percentage of static websites can be built using these tools. But they're never going to replace our React, Vue, Angular or anything

Keep learning JavaScript. It's a good start. Don't worry about Wix and other platforms.

Can Facebook be built with Wix - NO
Can Hasnode be built with Wix - NO
Can GitHub be built with Wix - NO
Can StackOverflow be built with Wix - NO
Can MFY (only homepage) be built with Wix - Yes, But I won't 😉 😄
