Hello guys, my name is Roy. I am a 15 year old guy that wants to be a programmer in the future.
I really enjoy learning about JAVASCRIPT and other things. But the thing that Im worried about the most is WIX. when I see their fancy ads on youtube it almost makes me puke. it seems so easy to build a website for anyone at any time!
The things is.. I really want to keep learning new things but I also feel like I'm learning it for nothing, because WIX and other website providers will take web developers over in the future.
Does anyone has a suggestion or advice for what programming language I can learn the best for in the future (5/10 years from now )
I don't know WIX except from Googling it just now, but these things have existed for quite a while. So far they have, at best, automated some of the boilerplate tasks.
Creating specialized software to make common patterns easier is one thing. Making software to solve programming problems in general needs huge advancements in artificial intelligence.
I would personally predict that there's a lot of years to go before programmers become obsolete.
It will eventually happen. But the same is true for every other job.
Which language you should learn depends mostly on what kind of things you want to build or what problems you want to solve.
It's like buying cakes off the shelf and making your own. They just can't be the same. Things you buy can't be 100% customizable to your last requirement. That's the encouragement I go by when I study programming languages.
I hosted my first website in Wix in 2008/2009!
I used to create websites in both Wix and WordPress. Needless to say its an easy to create a static website when compared to creating it from scratch. Whenever a client approaches me for a static website (which they needs really fast) I prefer Wix/WordPress.
But I'll never use Wix for my own projects. A good example would be my.im Its built from scratch in ReactJS, not Wix. Why?
<head>in Wix. It's their platform! There are many other sites to create a website similar to Wix. Yes, a small percentage of static websites can be built using these tools. But they're never going to replace our React, Vue, Angular or anything
Keep learning JavaScript. It's a good start. Don't worry about Wix and other platforms.
If you're worried, just about Wix, think in this way:
