I could maybe give some advises for Indians doing remote work for western companies, because although I'm sure a lot of you are doing a good job, overall you have gained a poor reputation where fast pace and fix later is a general expectation on how software is developed in India.

I also know that some of this may apply to the fact that some companies over here just find the cheapest workforce over there, and it should be no surprise that you get what you pay for.

I don't have any experience with outsourcing myself, so it's from what I hear and not what I have experienced.

I don't hope you take this in a negative way, but it's important to understand where problems are and what the barriers could be.

Yes, it is very true. Perfection is something that I struggle myself. It is because there are so many distractions out here. And it is easy to introduce small bugs here and there. The ratio of good engineers vs average engineers is 3 : 97 according to a study. Which means the probability that your code is done by a good engineer is just 3%. In my opinion, good software engineers in India should move to Europe or developed countries where the environment is more conducive to do good work.

Maybe. I'm traveling a lot myself, so I don't have too many issue that the developer is in a different country, and I'm sure that most of it is related to cheap a* when defining the budget :-) And sometimes, it's very hard to understand another country's needs. That goes both ways.
