Is it possible to release this version as a seperate Terminal?
Amazing read! I was in the same boat a few years ago. I don't have a Macbook but I use Linux all the time. I use Terminator (tmux alternative for linux) and Oh my zsh! There were some quirks when setting it up but these two tools have made everything so much easier. Looking forward to the next part!
PS: I'm sure you know this, but Ctrl + L (Cmd + K in Mac) will clear the terminal. Much easier than typing clear. Also Ctrl + R was new to me. I usually smash the up arrow or use history :p. I'll definitely be using this. :)
Edit: Updated the shortcut for clearing terminal in macOS.
Great article! Thanks for sharing.
We will feature it on homepage tomorrow. ππ°
Oh man, I love your articles. We really need a π€£ react on here, because that's me every paragraph and a half. Great writer, too, with the perfect blend of silly stuff to keep me awake and legit life-changing info for someone like me who straight-up suuucks at the shell, yet works behind it (in front of it?) all. of. the. time.
If I'm trying to do something real, just guess how many sighs (loud ones) I let out while sifting through documentation of what I figured would be second nature some years back? I have written the same exact commands and args (long ones) at least 14-15 times since I've historically been too lazy to even consider learning the shortcuts. Thanks for posting!
P.S. You've inspired me... think I'll try my hand at a story as well at some point in the following week, have similar experiences not related to the terminal that may be of some value, and I rather enjoy your format.
