The process of drawing uses a kind of thinking different from the linguistic thinking we are often more familiar with. We usually have a cultural bias (at least here in the west) towards "analytical" and linguistic ideals of reasoning. Drawing and doing art in general is as much an exercise in reasoning as doing math. (On the other hand, math is as much an exercise in creativity as art)
Just different kinds of reasoning. Both important. (That's my claim anyways. I was researching creativity during my masters. And I have very strong opinions about the philosophy of reasoning, which may perhaps go against the mainstream of the traditional psychology of reasoning).
